Company's coming!

Okay gang. I want everyone on their best behavior today. We have some new guests arriving any minute. Some of them are new to my neck of the woods, and I really want to leave a good first impression. As you know, I did some re-decorating on the sidebar last week to clear the clutter for them. Today, I did some tidying up and prepared some refreshments. I hope they like diet coke with lemon as much as I do. If not, I do have my next favorite drink, Perrier, stocked in the wine fridge. Oh yes, we will be serving wine for the early evening and evening guests. And, if they prefer beer, soda, or lemonade, well, that is ice cold and waiting for them, too. As for food, I have prepared some hummus and pita wedges, an artichoke dip in a bread bowl, and a platter of brie and gouda with crackers. I've also decided to have a sit down dinner which will include regency beef tenderloin, out-of-this-world-scalloped potatoes (both from Southern Living) and blue cheese walnut spinach salad (from Rachael Ray). Molten chocolate lava cakes will be served for dessert courtesy of Southern Living as well. I want everyone to meet and greet the new guests with all the graciousness you have extended me since landing on my little slice of the blogosphere. Oh, gee, I wonder if I have time to go get a new outfit and shoes. Probably not. At least I got my hair restored to its natural color a couple of weeks ago. And, I've been moisturizing.

Ok girls, go pretty up because all the Saucy SITStas will be arriving any minute.

Oh, oh, and one last thing, don't forget to sign the guest book.

PS. I forgot to let you know which rooms my guests will be visiting for the day. Please be sure to mingle in and around them at your leisure.

Funny how long I've been hooked on hummus (that'd make a great exercise video title wouldn't it?) and now everyone likes it...when I first prepared it for my husband and I said it was Hummus he looked at me like I had two heads and each head had a turban on them and then I said "chick peas" and the look went away and the feasting began...men. Can't live with 'em, can't just kill 'em...

Hi Debbie,

I'm Deb. Nice to meet you and read your fun blog. I've been blogging since April, and love to read the many entertaining blogs that are out there.

Do the newbies have to be on their best behavior?

Congrats on the SITS blog of the day. I'm ready for that Southern Living meal if there's any left, and maybe a glass of wine and some Perrier together:-) Thanks for welcoming us all. Great blog!

Kimba said...

I cannot believe that I'm just getting here now! I didn't even realize you were the SITSta for today!

Yeah you! Are you having a ball reading all your comments? Do you love it or is it overload? Maybe both?

I so wish I had known that you were going to have so many guests today. I would have come over earlier, spilled a few drinks, told a few racy stories and throughly embarrased you in front of your guests!

Cindy said...

You are awesome! I'll be back to visit with you again.

Dear BlogMom -
I am cracking up over your laugh at yourself post...well, and pretty much everything you write.
Thanks!

Michelle said...

Awww, such a nice welcome! But I'm missing my hummus, artichoke dip, brie and gouda, beef tenderloin (ok, I have to ask if you'll share your recipe -- I have one I LOVE but always looking for more), scalloped potatoes (ditto), and molten chocolate cakes (ok, my recipe I have and love and it's easy as can be so I'm good here at least). I'll let you eat all the blue cheese and walnut salad though.

Darn it, now I'm hungry. Tomatoes and cheese, it is (surprisingly good with a small slice of cheddar)!

Shannon said...

Debbie thanks for your blog. I forgot how I found you but I am glad I did. I LOVED your, "Being Content" I have added you to my reader and look forward to visiting you Daily. I am not a big diet coke girl but with a coke with lime in hand I look forward to visiting and having some girlfriend time.

Well, I did say I liked a big party. :)
And I'm pretty sure I've had your pork which is something that the other 67 guests (so far) are probably not privileged to say. ;)
Yummy!
