Taking a Break

A blogging break that is.

Just until next week after school starts.

I'm burned out.

I want to be free of distraction so I can play with my kids non-stop for their last few days before going back to school.

I want to cook dinner not leftovers.

I want to finish reading the books I've started.

I want to clean my house.

I want to paint my powder room.

I want to finish painting the monogram picture I started for a special neighbor who turned 16 in May.

I want to watch Penn State's first football game.

I want to go to sleep before midnight.

I don't want to worry about what I'm going to post next and whether or not I get to all the blogs on my reader.

I want to step away from it all for just a bit.

So that when I come back, I will love it again.

Because, right now, I don't.

Yeah, it's probably time to unplug for awhile.

Have you ever unplugged?

PS. Blog Around the World is on auto-pilot this week. Thank you Blogger for auto-publish.

Not yet, but its all still new to me. But I completely understand what you're saying.

Have fun, and hope you get to do all the things on your list :)

Good for you!!

I totally get it, remember I unplugged and almost didn't come back.

Have a great week off, I'll miss you, but my needs should be secondary to the needs of your family :-)

Love ya!

I haven't needed to unplug yet, but I only have one blog. I completely understand. Do all those things you need/want to get done. I've got you on Google Reader, so I'll be ready whenever you feel up to blogging again. Enjoy your break! :)

I'm glad you know yourself well enough to care for you and your family right now. Take a swim in Lake Debbie for a few days and then come back with your bad self. Can you come clean my house too?

Have a good break. I took a break from Feb to April this year...sometimes you just have to.

I'll be waiting with open arms, Simi Cabernet, and a Captain & Tenille soundtrack, JUST FOR YOU.

Go love on your kids and hubby. Go cheer for Penn State. And--you know I'm gonna go there--GO FINISH TWILIGHT!

XOXO

WOuld it REALLY surprise you if after reading all those comments there's a part of me that REALLY wants to say "Ugh... no fair. Keep blogging or I'll be mad" JUST because I so badly hate to follow the crowd....

BUT

I do LOVE YOU and want you to be HAPPY so go spend some super great time with your kidlets and such and watch some football and clean if you must, and then when you feel all fresh again (remember those commercials "Mom, do you ever feel...well... not so fresh) come back and we'll love ya up. Okay?

Jenni said...

I completely get it! Which is sad because I have only been blogging since April. Maybe it't the time of year. It gets kind of hairy around here this time of year. I haven't quit, but I have slowed down and done more family posts of what we've been doing.

You will be missed, though.

Enjoy your time off- when they go back to school, it's much more do-able. Don't stress about losing readers - we'll still be here!

When you had first alluded to unplugging, I encouraged you to keep going because it sounded like you weren't sure if people cared about what you had to say, but you know we all love you, your reasoning this time makes a whole lot more sense because family comes first. Even if you were not to come back because your family provided all the enjoyment that you could ever need and want, I would be 100% supportive even though your blogging family will miss you. :)

Debbie-
I totally understand where you're coming from. I recall a time in my life (when my kids were your kid's ages) that I needed to just cut ties from other stuff and focus on them and my house. I think it's God telling us that those times fly by too fast. Enjoy your time away and don't feel guilty. We will miss you, but we'll survive just fine while you're away. Honest.

Love you Debbie.

Hey Debbie...No, I haven't unplugged yet. But I do go in spurts. I can see people needing a break. Besides you gotta do stuff in the real world so that you have something to blog about anyway.....

Enjoy your time off!!!

Enjoy your much deserved break. We'll all be here when you get back :o)

I took a break when our cable and internet were out for 5 days. It was very freeing. I've barely been online this week myself. Those last days of Summer & first day of school have kept me busy.

Enjoy yourself. Enjoy your kids. Enjoy your life....
But then come back. Okay??

Michelle said...

Gee, I wonder why you're burned out. I'm so confused....

Have fun with your kids, and enjoy the last days before they go back! And here's hoping Penn State wins all their nonconference games so that when NU beats them (actually, they may miss them this year? I don't remember them on the schedule. hmmm) it will help with their BCS ranking. Oh, I crack myself up.

OK, my internet explorer is not working and I can't get your email! Sorry!!! If you get this, can you send it to: lesneddie@gmail.com??? THANKS!!

That's why The Man is so supportive of your blogging. He trusts you to know when to give it a rest. Hugs!

No, I haven't unplugged on purpose. But, it has happened naturally. But I miss it, of course, when I'm too busy to either write or read.

Jennifer P. said...

I've had a couple weeks where it's naturally felt more like a chore than fun! I guess that's why some celebrities brush by the crowds without signing autographs :)!

And we're all still leaving you comments because I'm sure you're not taking a break from all the comment lovin' :).

Have a great rest!

Debbie, when you come back, I've got something for you. Come play along, or just know you're appreciated!

Unplugging is the best and hardest thing in the world. Can you really do it for a whole week? I couldn't...I slipped in for just an hour or two, but wow, did I get a lot done. Amazing what you can do with out this wonderfully enticing distraction. :)

Melissa said...

Unplug, baby. Don't worry about us. We'll be waiting for you when you come back. Take all the time you need. Just remember, without your family, you probably would be blogging to begin with, right? They need to come first. Oh listen to me. I need to practice what I preach. I have a load of laundry that has been sitting in the dryer wrinkling since yesterday and several more loads that need to be washed. I have neglected more than just my family. My household duties have suffered as well. Okay, I'm not unplugging, but seriously considering taking a look at my post from a few weeks ago where I believe I may have said something rather similar to this.....I'm such a hypocrite. (self-loathing mode has kicked in. break out the chocolate.)

Melissa said...

oh and I should really proof read my comments, huh? "You probably wouldn't be blogging."

Hope you have a wonderful bloggy vaca. We'll be here with bells on when you return. Hope you get all the rejuvinating you need/deserve. I can imagine trying to keep up with all us followers must be a big responsibility. Especially since you weren't expecting us all to hop on board the tour the way we did. Ciao bella!

Enjoy your break. We all need it now and then. Sometimes it's just not that easy to admit it. Have fun!!

Just checking back in on you.

Praying that you are having a great week.

Take a break, take a breather, take a nap...

Now a little encouragment:
I just think your blogging skills are excellent. Your creative writing and not just the words you type but how you type them with big words, little words, strick through, italics, anyone reading can tell your emotions, humor and thoughts; all of it, just great!

Enjoy the start of school!
Carrie

I have been doing a lot of that lately. I step away for a few days. It does seem to take a while to get caught back up again. It feels so good though. Have a relaxing time.

I'm unplugged, too...but still lurking around!

Have a sweet break!

I love you, but I understand the need for a break. I seriously do. I mean, I'm back at work and so tired each night when I come home. My computer calls to me, but I have been waving and heading to bed.
