Righty? Lefty? Oldest? Youngest?

Every once in awhile I like to provide a little a peek inside my brain whether you want it or not. Believe me, it's scarey in there. Last time, I wondered out loud why we can eat breakfast food for dinner but not vice versa. Well, I can't, but apparently some of you can up to and including Olive Garden leftovers, which makes me want to....um...please excuse me for a moment....

So my latest thought was this: Ya know how they say women who work together, live together or hang out alot together end up on the same, ahem, cycle? Yeah well, I'm thinking the blogosphere isn't any different. I have "talked" via email to three other women this week who are eating alternating meals of french fries and M&M's like I've been. And did I mention I've been a bit crabby? Maybe even a teensy weensy more than crabby. And now I'm crampy. Aren't ya glad ya stopped by? So now I must segue to the conversation I had in my brain today while my kids were happily playing outside on our ginormous water slide (money well spent in case you were wondering...or not), and I was inside peeling potatoes, crabby, crampy, and all. Here goes:

Gee wonder what I should post about next. Oh I know. There is that one topic, but that will take more time than I have today to post. Or what about that other one? Nope, gotta wait until I get more material for it....la di da , dum dee dum, ... Is that Counting Crows I hear on the radio....hmmm, I wonder if Heather is right handed or left handed? I know I should know this, but is Lula the oldest or the youngest? Does she even have siblings? What about so and so....Hmmm, I wonder. Oh snigglefritz, I shoulda asked these questions in my "Getting to know you post last week." BING. You thinking what I'm thinking? Oh yeah, that's what I'm talkin 'bout...short post, short questions, requiring short answers for a short tempered lady.

And that my friends is how I came up with today's post.

And sadly,

No wine was involved.

So are you right handed or left handed?
What is your birth order, and how many siblings do you have?

I'll go first.

I am left handed, and I'm the baby. :) I have an older sister.

I am right-handed and the oldest of two girls!

Oh, and it's time for Aunt Flo to show up here anyday now, also :(

I'm right handed, but I have a left handed sister, a left handed hubby and a left handed child. hehe

My dad has six kids, four with one wife, two with another. I'm technically fifth in his progeny but I'm the oldest of my mom's kids (her two). hehe

Confusing enough?!

Debbie said...

Amy you validated my point about women in the blogosphere being on the same you know what.

Rhea, my son is a lefty and my daughter is a righty. The Man is also a righty.

An oops baby as my brother is only 13 months older than me.

Yay--a mention by Debbie--it's the highlight of my life. Truly.

OK, since you asked:

Right handed, big sister to Eric, age 30. (I am 33!)

Of note: Scott is left-handed, Lib's right, and Caroline appears to be favoring her left hand. Her Daddy is so pleased.

p.s. Just a bit of wine was involved in this comment...we had grilled flounder, roasted potatoes and green beans for supper...Viognier was necessary. And delicious.

Caroline said...

Oh goody, I'm right behind Lula! I heart her. I am left-handed and am the middle of three - older sis and younger bro. My mom always said I was the special link that held the family together. AAAwwwww!

Unknown said...

Okay, well I'll try and make this clear...

I'm ambidextorous. I'm the eldest of five, but a little while ago I found out that I had five older siblings courtesy of my birth father.

So I guess that makes me a middle child with a confused brain.

And as to the cramp thing...well I'm with you there.

Aunt Flo left the building about a year ago. Unfortunately, when she packed her bags, she forgot to include the cramps, bloating, mood swings and hot flashes!!

Grrrrrrrrr......

5th of six, four sisters, one brother.

I'm left handed and the oldest of 4 but I didn't know the other 2 until a few years ago. I know it sounds confusing and it is. I just found my birth father a few years ago and I have a post called "Grace Story" on my blog that explains the whole thing if you're interested.

BTW...I know just what you mean. I have all these blog ideas in my head but they all seem to take more time than I can find. Great idea for the short question!!

I'm right handed for writing and cutting, but pretty much do everything else (eating) with my left. Which came in handy when I had surgery on my right wrist and had to use my left hand for six weeks.

I am an only child in my mom's family, and the oldest of 3 in my dad's. My brother is 28, married and has a 2-year-old boy. My sister is 27 and may have a special friend... we're waiting to see what happens.

Righty

I am the oldest of two, just me and my sister (she's my jr. by 2 1/2 years)

And oldly enough, my rag started this morning... the women of the blogasphere unite!

I am a lefty and third of twelve. Yeah they did it big in the olden days:} Could have helped that we were Irish Catholic also.
You know that thing about women living together. MY poor husband. We had five daughters, and yes we all did. ALL at once.

I am right handed. Hubby and girls are righties. But my dad and MIL are lefties. I am the oldest of two (brother is 5 years younger); and my hubby is the oldest of 5 (4 boys and 1 girl).

On the subject of handedness...my good friend and her husband are lefties. Their son is a leftie. Their daughter is right handed. Can you imagine them trying to help her? :-)

I'm right handed and oldest of 4. Hubby is a lefty but all our kids are righties.

Right handed- which means I have LEFT my mind somewhere.
I am the 6th of 6, right behind Trish. We have 1 brother, followed CLOSELY by 3 other sisters.
Maybe it does help that we are Irish, and were Catholic. I had 5 in quick succession. I inherited the "rabbit" gene from my mother

Sheri said...

Right handed, and the oldest. Doesn't that make me special or something? No? Drat . . .

Jennifer said...

Right handed but cna do many things (paint and shave) lefty.

I'm 3rd with 3 brothers.

MIL is a lefty but my man and kids are all righty's, my dad thinks he would have been lefty naturally but... I think back then (he's 75) they discouraged left handedness.

Kat said...

Right handed. Youngest of three.

Also, I'm having my "visitor" this week, too. I just knew you'd want to know.

Right handed. Oldest of two~I have one sweet sister, who also happens to be my best friend! We are 21 months apart.

I'm right handed.

I'm the 7th of 9 kids. (yes, really! no steps or halves)

And I eat a turkey and swiss sandwich for breakfast all the time. It's my favorite "breakfast" food. :o)

EEEEMommy said...

Right handed.
Oldest of 5 (3 younger sisters and then a brother 10 years younger than I)

And now I must promptly turn off the computer because I'm not supposed to start for another two weeks and with my in-laws in transit from PA while I type, and an entire house to clean from top to bottom, it would not be a good thing to be surprised with any other company, especially the kind that brings irritability!

The way your blog started, I thought you were going to poll us on our cycle, which you ended up doing indirectly. I wasn't going to go there, but it's funny that you mention it 'cause it's that time of the month for me too! I'm right-handed, currently with a dislocated finger that I've been popping back into place for about a month now and will continue to do until I can see my doctor who is booked until the end of the month! I am the oldest of two girls, but have always been mistaken for the younger one 'cause I'm shorter and have a baby face. I can eat anything any time of the day or night. My mom used to always say that we Asians eat anything that flies except airplanes, anything with legs except a table, and anything in the water except boats. :)

Right handed, and big sister to Brandon.

I feel your grumpy pain, sister. So since we're so close in blogland, the standard "women living together" rule of "monthly group cycling" must apply. Are you getting my code?

I need more coffee. I'll bring you over a Sonic diet coke with the turd ice later.

I am right-handed, as are all of my kids, and the third of four, all girls. Poor dad!

The "custom of women" (the King James version, really! Look up Genesis 31:35) has finally graced me with her presence after being 5 weeks late and spending about $30 in prego tests. Grrrr...I'm not surprised...ever since my son was born 8 1/2 years ago, I do this every once in a while.

I'm right handed... and I'm inept with my left, I'm realizing... especially when making ponytails for my daughter's hair... while holding a comb and fending my son off (from pulling her hair).

I'm the baby. :) As my sister (who's 5 1/2 years older) likes to remind me of often... and to tell the truth... I don't mind now that I'm past 30!

I am right handed, so is my husband but all my boys are left handed.
I am the first born and even first grandchild, my husband is the same, we have some good fights!
I am one of three.

As for the monthly visit. I had not had mine in almost two years because of pregnancy and nursing exclusively for a year and wouldn't you believe here it is and I just jumped in to this blogging world in the past few weeks! Maybe there is something to it?

Sue Wilkey said...

Right, first of 3. An old friend told me yesterday on the phone that she thinks it's "weird" that I have bloggy friends. She said "it's so bizarre that you all read each other's blogs and comment. It makes me feel normal. ha ha!" Jealous.
