oh, the places you'll go...

My nephew, Chase, is listed in the current issue of Collegiate Baseball as one of the "Top Notch High School Baseball players in the US." He was one of only 14 juniors in the state of Texas. Also, a Yankees scout was in town to see two seniors from his high school team play and left telling my brother-in-law that the "real ball player to watch" was Chase and compared him to Dustin Pedroia (only taller)of the Boston Red Sox who was the 2007 American League Rookie of the Year...not too shabby! Chase takes all of this in stride. He is so humble and doesn't let any of it affect him whatsoever. Because, as his Dad who was a stand out ball player in high school and college (and was drafted by the Texas Rangers) has told him his whole life, no matter how good you are, there is always going to be someone better. That advice keeps him grounded....he's still going places though.

If only we could all be so grounded! Chase sounds wise beyond his years. Pride and self sufficiency seem to be our natural response so many times, you are right this kid is going places!

I have finally been inspired to start a blog...I would love to come over one day and get some pointers from you. Until then, check out my blog in it's infant state.

Happy Monday!
