Today, I was reading through a book by Lisa Whelchel called Speaking Mom-ese that Bob bought me for Christmas one year. It is an inspirational book for mothers that includes parenting advice based on Lisa's personal experiences and her deep walk with the Lord. I came across this paragraph in one of the chapters and loved it---She writes:
" There is an old Jewish proverb that says, 'If you want to give God a good laugh, tell Him your plans!' How true. Every day life is filled with surprises-some good and some not so good. But even when your plans get derailed, God remains faithful. He always finds ways to make lemonade out of our lemons."
Isn't it always easier in the end if we submit to His will and His ways for our life? We avoid lots of pitfalls and reap many blessings because He knows what's best for us. Yet when we insist on having it our way and things don't go as planned, He is always there to pick up the pieces and use it for His purposes and His Glory. We don't deserve that kind of mercy, but I am so glad He is willing to provide it.
