My American Idol

I am taking a big risk by posting this today. My 8 year old daughter performed the song "This is Me" from Camp Rock at her school talent show last night. She thinks she stunk up the joint. I'd say she did awesome. I couldn't be prouder that she got up in front of several hundred people and sang her heart out.

(They only had two minutes to perform so they had to cut the song off in the middle of it.)

  7. I am close to in tears. Your daughter is so sweet and so brave to be up there singing in front of all of those people. My daughter is 8 as well and is in a drama class whihc is doing high school musical. It truly brought tears to my eyes as I could just see my daughter up there just like yours. What a proud Mommy moment.

  9. I taught in elementary school for 11 years before staying home with my kids. I have seen many talent shows and sat through some painful numbers. All that to say...she was great! Keep on singing girl.

  16. How precious! I love how the audience joined in clapping!

It sounds like at the end you were saying, "I'm shaking, I'm shakin," which is so funny, because I was going to ask you...were you shaking, did you feel sick to your stomach? I always get that way whenever my children perform for an audience.

What sweet memories you have made...the school talent show!

  26. Wowzers...little Red riding hood is going to be famous! That's a big voice for a little girl. Does she take singing lessons or is that just natural talent? Amazing!

  28. Oh, that was so great! I had no idea she could sing like that...too bad our church doesn't have a kids choir! Maybe you should sign her up for a solo in Conversations this year! Way to go little lady!

  29. She is fabulous not only for her singing skills but getting up in front of all those people. There are very few people in this world that could handle that!
I wish I had self confidence like that...for now my kids listen (sort of) to me belting out the tunes in the car.
