The 50 State Challenge

Okay, I have been thinking about doing this for awhile. I am dying to see if I can get a blogger from every state in the country to come forward. I did have a reader from Hawaii at one point. But she hasn't been around for awhile. Oh Oh and I did see Alaska run across my sitemeter one day and was so excited. But, yeah, she hasn't been around in awhile either. Hmmmm, was it my grammar? Oh well, you all are my friends now, and I want to know what state you are from. If you wouldn't mind, please leave a comment, even if you do so anonymously, and tell me what state you live in. I will tally 'em up and see who's got the biggest presence in this little part of blogosphere.

Then, I'm going to do state by state party post linking all the bloggers from a particular state.

I'll make dinner and serve wine or whatever, while you talk amongst yourselves and your homey's. Wanna play? Oh come on, pretty please. And, yeah, that means all you lurkers, ya gotta play along, too!

I'll go first!

Your comments so far are cracking me up. No, there won't be a bathing suit competition, but there might be a pie eating contest. In our gowns. And high heels. Go get your Spanx now.

Okay we need the following contestants:

Ms. Connecticut,
Ms. New Hampshire,
Ms. Vermont (never seen this one)
Ms. Maine (saw this one this morning. Why didn't you take your crown?)
Ms. Wyoming (might be tough)
Ms. Montana (must not have computers there)
Ms. Massachusetts (I have seen you a couple of times)
Ms. Delaware (hmmm?)
Ms. West Virginia (ooooh, I don't think I've ever seen WVA)
Ms. New Mexico ( Oh I saw you on Friday!!! Claim your crown!)
Ms. New Hampshire (Didn't you drop by in the last two weeks or so?)

  2. I'm here from Louisiana (but not for much longer... :D(And by that I mean I'm moving. Not that I hate your blog and never want to visit again.))

  3. Washington, not DC. :)

  4. Of course it's Virginia--we are BFFs, you know.

But can I claim Georgia, too? Wait...I'll leave that to Kat. I'm still claiming it in my heart, at least.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Near Pittsburgh, PA. If this were Miss America I would never make it to the top 20. PA is always in the bottom ranks! We must have ugly pagent girls or something...

    ReplyDelete
  6. Thanks Lula for letting me claim Georgia. Even though you lust for Georgia in your heart...I am here now :-)

What a fun idea, Debbie! (And continued thanks for one of your other ideas...that morphed into my weekly Friday Follies...)

  11. Virginia! And it is actually where I have lived my ENTIRE life. Just different parts of it.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Melissa McKenzie ... Miss Wisconsin!

    Er, wait. Miss Georgia!

I'm not sure which one to claim. How about Miss Limbo? No, I better go with Wisconsin since that's still what my driver's license says.

  13. Ms. Louisiana here!

    I love your ideas! :0)

  14. Hi, my name is Caroline (not Carolyn) and I'm Miss North Carolina. I like kittens, puppies, making cupcakes with pink frosting, and I dot all my "i's" with little hearts.

    My platform is world peace!

  20. Idaho here--and I brought my potatoes :)! If you don't happen to get an Oregon, I use to live there and still go at least once a month. Guess I could claim dual-stateship.

(waving cheesily as my evening gown drags behind me and I exit the stage....)

  21. Washington (not DC)
    Vancouver (not canada)

But I can drive 10 minutes south pick up a wireless signal and come to you live from Oregon.

Do I really have to put on that evening gown, those shoes and all that makeup? I am totally a tomboy. (yes, still at the age of 35).

Can we just skip to the talent competition cuz I can juggle a soccer ball with my feet like nobody's business

  24. Hi yal! I'm Mrs. Virginia and I mean the REAL Virginia, not all the areas east of Winchester and north of Fredericksburg...that's just extended suburbs of Washington, yes DC.

I live in those parts now a days but I'm a Virginia native through and through. And we live in THE best state in the BEST country in the world! We claim more VA born Presidents than any other state, we have the BEAUTIFUL Blue Ridge Mountains, and the oldest River in the Northern Hemisphere, oddily enough it's called the New River! We have beaches and bays and more History then a teacher can cover in a year! And one of my favorites... we have four REAL seasons! We get snow in winter, we have 6-8 weeks of Spring flowers, Summers that will curl your hair with the humidty and fall leaves that will knock your socks off!

Can I just say I am a fan?!?! Somebody at the Tourism Bureau should be paying me! LOL

Oh and my platform for this beauty contest is Whirled Peas.

Yal come back and see us, k? I'll bring the sweet tea with fresh mint sprigs!

Does that mean its just you and me for dinner on the MO night, Debbie?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Since CaroLINE has gotten all uppity and taken over Miss North Carolina, I'll be happy to take on Miss Minnesota... since I spent... 31 years there and have been in NC for 4 months....

  27. I haven't seen anyone from AZ yet! Phoenix rocks just not in the summer ~ yikes its over 100 right now.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ahem...feeling a little left out here in the north...CANADA...not a state (apparently some U.S.ers believe we are...groan!)
But I was born in New York, NY. Does that count? That would make me the first one...so it may help your cause by default.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Karin ... Missouri
(although I am runner-up to z's mom. I think we need a recount. I have talents. Many talents. I always brush and floss [well, not actually]. I attended an Ivy League school [OK, the 'Ivy League of the Midwest' --- Z's mom will probably know where I'm talking about, but no one else will]. I hope one day we can save the whales and the world from global warming and I believe in burning corn cobs for heat and using CFL bulbs and...and...

    ReplyDelete
  35. Well, I have nothing new to add here, except perhaps talent;) I live in Washington State . . . probably very near Trish, just northwest of Vancouver. But I grew up in Idaho, near Jennifer P. and then lived ten years in Utah.

    ReplyDelete
  36. North Dakota gal here.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Idaho, again. Sheesh, I think I'm your 50th commentor. You'd think you would have representation from all 50 states, eh? This is fun to see where everyone comes from.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Count me in Debbie! I'm from Sweet Home Alabama. I'm even cuter than Reese Witherspoon. Ok, well, not really, but I did have my hair cut like hers once. That count??

I'm also a little short for a pageant dress and I'd kill myself in heels. Would cute jeans and a tee be ok, I mean I AM from Alabama.

  40. Washington State. The Left Coast. About 208 miles north of Tricia. Too far away if you ask me.
I think I am Number 4 for Washington State.
Count Gina also. She is out camping in the rain and cannot get to a computer. She would be Washington also. About 15 miles northwest of me.

  43. Oh Debbie, I'm so excited! I've always wanted to be "Miss Oregon." This is such an honor. Fact: The first Miss America was 5'2 and weighed something like 112 pounds, kinda around my size. Can you imagine someone that short making it now in this time? Uuuuh uuuuh, no way. So, since I could never in real life enter the Miss Oregon padgent due to my short stature, I am totally thrilled for this opportunity to represent my state. I will not let them down. Thank you for asking me. This is fun. I'll take Chardonnay; thanks for offering wine. this is a celebration. Kathi

  44. Oh, sorry rjn.....I am currently living in Maryland, and I think that's in the official pageant rules. I think that makes me Ms. Maryland 2008.

  59. You'll never get Montana. It took me SIX months to get a visitor dot on my map from there---and then it was my old college roomie reading while on a visit to her parent's house (then went back home to UT). I seriously had dots from every civilized nation and some not so civilized before Montana finally surfaced. They're like a rare albino buffalo or something!

    ReplyDelete

  65. Idaho for 13 years now, my first 23 were spent in Oregon. Love them both despite their vast differences! I love stopping by your blog too, but don't usually comment since I don't have a blog to direct anyone to.

I'm not really the pageant type. I'd rather be out camping, playing softball or volleyball, anything where make-up is optional. I could be talked into the pie eating... ; )

    ReplyDelete
  66. Nevada!!! That's pronounced Ne-va-duh (a as in cat) :-)

And I gracefully accept the crown for both Nevada and New Zealand !!!
